FOREST BATHING AND FOREST THERAPY

Forest bathing and forest therapy reflect today’s spirit: spa treatments have never been more relevant. Free yourself from everyday life, restore emotional balance, support self-healing, unplug digitally, and reconnect with the healing power of nature. What better fit for our era of mindfulness and back-to-nature living?
In cooperation with renowned forest therapy expert Dr. Gisela Immich, Bad Orb is on the path to becoming Hesse’s first certified forest healing spa. The health-promoting concept of forest stays is rooted in the teachings of hydrotherapist and naturopathy pioneer Sebastian Kneipp, who prescribed therapeutic stays in the woods of Wörishofen more than 150 years ago.

Combined with condition-specific forest therapy methods, the forest’s beneficial microclimate enhances both mental and physical well-being. The concept of forest bathing, in turn, is based on the Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku, directly inspired by Zen and Buddhist mindfulness teachings. Forest bathing gained popularity as a preventative health trend in progressive California – and is now loved around the world. To be certified as a healing forest, the area must be highly biodiverse, have a well-regulated microclimate, and be free from noise and pollution caused by human activity.

ALEA MOUNTAINBIKE

Whether you’re after a smooth flow trail or a high-adrenaline downhill ride – there’s terrain for every skill level. Most routes wind through scenic forests and rural paths, perfect for pushing your limits while soaking in breathtaking landscapes.

ALEA CENTER COURT

Padel is booming! At the brand-new ALEA CENTER COURT, sports enthusiasts can now get a feel for the padel racket. Padel is a racket sport closely related to tennis and squash. Typically played in doubles (though singles is also possible), this Latin American favorite includes walls as part of the playing field, just like squash. Like tennis, the ball is hit over the net with a racket, but the court, rackets, and balls are slightly smaller. Alongside this trending sport, traditional tennis courts are also available in the park – modern, well-maintained, and ideal for casual games, training, or tournaments.

ALEA GOLF is both a destination and a meeting point for golf lovers. The experience is rounded out by the peaceful beauty of the Spessart – perfect for slowing down and enjoying nature at the Horstberg. After your game, enjoy refreshing regional drinks at LINAS.
